2019 Pemberton Enduro

Hi all,

This past weekend I raced in my hometown at the annual Pemberton Enduro. This race is one that I don't take very seriously, but I do have some pressure to beat some of my buddies who come from other places.  These are my home trails, so I enjoy being able to ride some of my favorite trails while pushing it against the clock. I felt solid coming into this event, although I had just built up my new enduro bike a few weeks before. This race was blind, so nobody had any idea what tracks we would be racing. During the race, we were racing quite a few trails that I was familiar with, which was quite an advantage compared to my competitors who had not ridden any of the trails before. -Unfortunately, after the first few corners of the longest stage, I got a puncture and had to fix the flat on the stage and then complete the stage.  I rode out the stage and debated just not finishing the last few stages. But, I knew I was better than that, so I went ahead and finished the last few stages and ended up riding better than ever without the pressure of an overall result. It was just riding with all the boys, which doesn't happen very often. In the end, I ended up having a great day out on my bike and feel like I'm carrying some positive energy into the next race.

My next race is the Vedder enduro in Chilliwack.
