2019 Garbanzo DH

Hi all,

Last Friday, I attended the Garbanzo DH for my first event of the Crankworx Whistler week. I came into this race very confident I could do well because the course is one that I am very comfortable on. This race is a grueling on with some of the fastest times hovering around 12 minutes. I knew, however, that I could put confidence in my strength and fitness because I had already done enduro stages that were longer than this, so I knew what to expect endurance wise. Unfortunately, I was not able to get very much training in on the course before official training. Because I was having issues with play in one of my frame bearings, making my bike unrideable. But by the time practice came around my bike was all fixed up and I was ready to lay down some fast laps. My first run was pretty janky and stiff, but by the second one, I was feeling way better and felt confident I could lay down a fast time. In my race run, I played it pretty conservative at the top to save energy, and I only really made one big mistake. But, on a track this long it didn't cost me too much time. I ended up having a well-balanced run were I felt I rode on the edge, but not so far over the edge where I couldn't keep calm. All in all, this race was a success, and I'm stoked to be carrying some good momentum into the next two races this week.

My next event is the Air DH.
